This week I started rewatching the anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood ( はがね の れんきんじゅつし) with one of my friends and girlfriend.This show is one I have already watched, but I am rewatching it with them to introduce them to the best the medium has to offer. The show is an epic saga about people called alchemists using scientific powers to save a nation and save its people from forces beyond comprehension. It is one of the most critically acclaimed anime of all time, and one my favorite pieces of any kind of media. The scope of the story is massive, it has insightful philosophical messages, expertly written characters, and an incredibly creative plot. It is very encouraging to watch the show and understand some of the phrases in the opening song and dialogue of the characters without looking at the subtitles.
