Ponyo was the first anime I have ever watched and will always be one of my favorites. Studio Ghibli consistently produces beautiful masterpieces, and this film is no exception. In my eyes, Ponyo is the ultimate film for the whole family. The story is fun, but it has a dark edge that keeps viewers on their toes at points. The animation and scenery are bar none, with smooth kinetic scenes and some of the most creative settings in anime. The world-building these set pieces provide makes the whole thing even more intriguing. I recommend it to anyone who wants to renew their appreciation for the astonishing beauty of the world. Ponyo 's setting is distinctly Japanese. It depicts a beautiful seaside town that relies on fishing to fuel its economy.
